Act Live You've Got Sense III

Don't automatically assume that the only two Asian friends you have are perfect for each other. You know when you tell Haru that you have just the right girl for him? And he makes that weird face every single time? Whenever you have a conversation with him you enjoy bringing up your lone Asian female friend Kameko. And when you tell her about Haru, she does the same thing, but she adds the proverbial eye-roll?  Well, stop doing it.

Perhaps they're gay. Maybe they don't date other Asians. Maybe they're straight and do prefer Asians but don't want you to meddle in their private affairs. Since they're too polite to tell you to butt out of Asian people's private affairs, Mr. Mannerz will tell you: butt out of your Asian friends private affairs! Besides, your main concern should be getting off of that dreadful meth you still dabble in.

Act Like You've Got Sense III

Please don't assume that all of your Latino friends use Goya Adobo. That's akin to assuming that all of your African-American friends can't resist the thrill of hot sauce or that all of your Asian-American friends couldn't live without the tang of soy sauce or the kick of chutney. You've been doing so well. Don't backslide now.

Act Like You've Got Sense II

Please don't ask your black friend if you can touch her hair. Whether she wears her hair in its natural state, has a relaxer, wears a lace front weave like our friend Tyra, has microbraids, boxed braids, a fade, dreadlocks, a Jheri curl, or a wig. Trust Mr. Mannerz, it's best just to tell her that her hair looks nice. Don't touch it. Don't ask her how she gets it like that. Just compliment her, and keep it moving.

ACT LIKE YOU'VE GOT SENSE I

As is the case with the cocktail parties mentioned in the previous post, your elegant new demeanor will expose you to different types of people from many nations across the globe. With your newfound friends, try not to embarrass yourself (or me) with your shenanigans. There will be instances when you want to do something really stupid, I mean, outright moronic—as if you had no damn sense. You can't blame your mom forever. She did the best she could for you with the little money she made at the topless bar near the truck stop. Mr. Mannerz is here to teach you now. Below is the first example.

Please don't tell your new Korean friend how much you love Mr. Miyagi. Not only was the Karate Kid mentor supposed to be from Okinawa, Japan, but he was played by California-born Noriyuki "Pat" Morita (RIP). Your new friend may be inclined to call you a babo and keep it moving in order to get away from your foolishness. Now you've got some sense.
